Our objective is to make the restoration and revival of the palace complex a catalyst not just for the long-term preservation of the site itself but also for its revitalisation to put it, in every sense, right at the heart of Charing village life.
The palace and the village are inextricably linked. For centuries the village and its people have served the palace and now there is the opportunity to reverse this relationship and for the palace to serve Charing and the wider community.
Bringing new life and new facilities to the Archbishop’s Palace complex, making it relevant to today’s needs, will ensure that Charing maintains its unique independent character and identity – and remains an attractive place in which to live, visit and work.
Located in the centre of the garden of England, Charing is a quintessential Kentish village rich in charm, heritage and history – something that as the 21st century unfolds we wish to protect for future generations and share with the wider world.
