Palace Project Draws Charing Fête Crowds

Over 200 people from Charing and beyond visited us at our marquee at Charing Village Fête on 17th June.

On one of the hottest days of the year they found shade and information about the Charing Palace Project – one of the main attractions being a meticulously crafted metre square model, constructed over 300 hours by team member Terry Whitbread, showing how the palace complex might look when fully restored and revived.

We were energised by the enthusiasm that was shown for our cause and the expressions of support we achieved – with eleven people signing up to get involved.

Our competitions, with family day out at Dover Castle prizes provided by our friends at English Heritage, proved extremely popular, with 27 successful entries to our ‘find the facts’ competition and 20 of our younger visitors braving the heat to complete our colouring competition.

A day judged a success by everyone concerned.
